We have a number of
non-breeding pet Ragdolls in the
household.
Ragdolls make the best pets!

MAXIE
(Alter Ch Kasseldolls
Maxwell's Silver Hammer) |

Maxie is a
beautiful blue colorpoint male who was originally meant
to replace JimmyMack as our colorpoint stud cat. Max is
a pure purr-box who loves to cuddle, sleep with us and
spend time on the lap. Because he has such a wonderful
cuddly personality, we couldn't bear to restrict his
life as it would have to be as a stud cat. We also
realized we only had three queens, who Rusty could
easily (and very willingly) 'take care of'. So when
Maxie started to mark territory to attract females, as
studs will do, we made the decision to alter him and
keep him as a show cat and pet. He would have made an
awesome contribution to our breeding program, but we
believe he is happier with his life the way he is now.
Maxie did well at his first CFF show as a kitten,
getting ribbons in every ring, ranging from second best
to 8th best. At just over eight month's old, Maxie went
to his first show as an adult and participated in the
Alter Champion class. He ribboned there as well and
earned his Champion status. He got nice comments from
the judges, which pleased both me and his breeder Ken
Staples. Thanks, Ken, for this wonderful lover boy.

Moonshadow |
(Ch. Mainelyrags
Moonshadow of Fossmtn)
Moonshadow was our first breeding female and was retired to become one of
our pets. Moonshadow is a blue mitted Ragdoll, with nice blue
eye-color. After producing five litters for us, it was time for her to
relax, get fat and be lazy. However, no sooner was she spayed, then she
took over Carrie-Anne's litter, even producing milk to feed them. Once a
Mama-cat, always a Mama-cat... Moonie is truly my shadow when not raising
other people's kittens, and we're sure she'll fall into the pet mode once
the kittens are grown. In the meantime, Carrie-Anne has a built in
baby-sitter!

JIMMY MACK |
(Rosebud Ragdolls Jimmy Mack of FossMtn)
Jimmy is the sweetest thing, a regular
purrbox, in a seal
colorpoint
coat. He has a dark brown face and slightly lighter brown body,
with legs that look like they are wearing brown velvet. Jimmy
was our stud cat for a number of years, and produced many
beautiful, friendly Ragdoll kittens. But he didn't really like
the restricted life necessary for an intact male cat. So we
retired him and he was neutered. Jimmy filled out and got a
gorgeous coat back. He spends his days as a pet, roaming the
house freely and going out into the cat pen, which he loves. No
more stud pants for him!!

beau jangles |
(ChA.
Whiskernook Beau Jangles, aka Master Grand Companion Beau Jangles
Danced)
Beau
Jangles was our second Ragdoll and our first show cat! Beau is
also an altered male and is a beautiful example of what a
Ragdoll personality should be. He is extremely loving and
cuddly, is never shy and likes everyone. He is a seal bi-color,
with dark-blue eyes and an extremely silky coat. Beau made
Champion status in both T.I.C.A. and C.F.F. alter classes, but
as he got older, one of his eyes started turning in. Neither
organization actually disqualified him for the eye, but we chose
to move him to the ‘Household Pet’ (HHP) class in C.F.F. HHP
classes are for both non-pedigreed cats and pedigreed cats who
are not show-marked. HHPs are judged on beauty (Ragdolls have
that!), personality (Ragdolls have that!), ease of handling, (Ragdolls
should have that!) and grooming (which is easy with
‘dolls.) Beau Jangles did extremely well in the HHP class,
quickly gaining the top title of Master Grand Companion.
Breeders often show their cats in the Champion classes in order
to validate that their breeding program is producing Ragdolls
that conform to the physical standard for the breed. But we
also think that Ragdolls doing well in Household Pet classes
says something about a breeding program. Ragdolls are supposed
to have placid, loving, docile personalities that love people.
Our breeding goal is to produce Ragdoll kittens with
personalities like Beau! With his eye, he wouldn’t have been a
good candidate as a breeder, so instead we looked for a female
with similar ancestry to his.

Daphne |
|
|
(FossMtn
Daphne)
Daphne is also a blue mitted girl and the daughter of MoonShadow
and Joseph. Daph was the smallest of the litter and had some
health problems when she was tiny, so we opted to keep her as
our pet. She is doing fine now and has gorgeous deep blue eyes
and a large fluffy tail. Daphne is a very serious-looking girl
who loves to play with pens. We think she is literary and would
be a writer if she were a person.

'BEYONCE
|
Beyonce (pronounced Bee-yon-say) is a rescue Ragdoll with quite
a story. She was bred by someone who sells to pet stores
nationwide and was bought at a young age by someone in New
Jersey. (No reputable cat or dog breeder sells to pet stores.)
A year and a half later, she was given to a another woman, whose
lifestyle included traveling a lot, so she asked us to take
Beyonce in and find a home for her. Beyonce wasn't registered
by her original owner. She wasn't neutered and there were no
health records until her second owner got her. Thankfully she
did get good care then; was altered, given vaccinations and a
nice home. But due to her experiences, she has 'issues'. She
has not the docile personality of most Ragdolls, but is very
beautiful and can't help it that she gets 'overstimulated' and
acts out. We have put placing her in a new home on hold and she
will stay with us. Hopefully she will learn what it is to be a
true Ragdoll from our other cats. Please never consider buying
a kitten or puppy from a pet store. Buy from a reputable
breeder who will socialize and love your baby before it goes to
you. Reputable breeders want to KNOW the people who adopt their
babies!

Blue Moon
3/17/1999 -
10/14/2008 |
Blue Moon
was our first Ragdoll and is very sorely missed. He became
ill very suddenly with a red blood cell disease and we
couldn't get him well. He didn't suffer and is now at the
Rainbow Bridge with Reba and Thumbalina. He will never be
forgotten as he started the whole Ragdoll adventure.
|
 |
THUMBALINA
March 1988 - November
7, 2005 |
Thumby was the only
non-Ragdoll cat in the house. She was a beautiful
white, long-haired domestic cat who was quite the tartar in her
younger
years. But she mellowed with age, and the Ragdolls who came to
live with
her seemed to help her do that. She had a long, very healthy
life until
the very end. Because she never really liked people all that
much, I
figure that she will meet up with her littermates at the Rainbow
Bridge
and play like a kitten for eternity.

FOSSMTN
REBA MCENTIRE
March 20, 2003 -
December 10, 2004 |
Reba was a sweet,
seal mitted girl, born to our Mandolin Rain (Mandy -
since gone to a pet home) and JimmyMack. Reba was born with a
severely
underdeveloped right ventricle in her heart, so we kept her as
our pet.
Because of her heart, she was very retiring and spent a lot of
her time
safely curled up under our bed. But she had a great appetite
and loved to
be petted, and would venture out a couple of times a day. She
had a calm,
pain-free life until the heart couldn't function anymore. Now
she is
purring with the angels and has all the energy of a healthy cat!

Elwood
2002-2008
|
Sweet little
Elwood crossed over the Bridge. He developed a common problem
that wethered goats get, a urinary tract blockage, and unlike
cats, in goats the problem is difficult to cure. Elwood was the
best goat, with large horns that he never used, except to play
with Jake. He'll be missed for sure.
