Alpaca and Merino Blend Yarns
We have some yarn from our alpacas that are blended with soft white Merino wool. This is usually done for the younger alpacas, who don't have as much fleece as they will at maturity. The Merino blends well and gives a bigger run for the processor. We have both 2 oz regular skeins or pull balls. Some blends we currently have are the following:
All are 50% Alpaca and 50% Merino
Our dark silver gray boy Santana, both blanket and secondary fiber, had it blended with white Merino to produce a gorgeous medium gray yarn. It is soft and tweedy, with each two ounce skein having 195 yards.
Our beige girl MoonDance had very soft and beautiful secondary fiber, so we processed into yarn, blending it with white Merino to produce a creamy-colored yarn. Each two ounce skein has 155 yards.
Our three white young males, The Boss, Stagger Lee and The Gambler, also had very soft and beautiful secondary fiber, so that too, was mixed with white Merino to produce a lot of white yarn! Some of that will definitely be dyed! Each two ounce skein is 160 yards.
Ordering:
To order yarn, please email or call me with your choices. I will give you a price, including shipping and handling, and we can discuss the best way for you to make payment. Please check AlpacaNation for the specific lots that are for sale at the moment.
Alpaca Roving
We sometimes have fiber made into roving for handspinners. Presently what I have the most of is roving from our beige female Caraz. Her fleece is beige and in some areas light fawn, so her roving comes out a nice shade of Ecru.
The roving is in one ounce balls and sells for $2.50 per ball.
