100% Alpaca Yarn

Foss Mountain Alpacas produces and sells alpaca yarn from our own animals, most often using the primary blanket fiber.  The yarn is labeled with the alpaca or alpacas whose fiber made the yarn.

We have yarn from Cinnamon Spice, a dark brown alpaca who makes beautiful, shiny soft yarn.  We have white yarn from our herdsire Phoenix.  We have a lovely blend from our dark fawn female Brown Eyed Girl and her dark fawn mother Thunder Rose, mixed with the white fiber of our herdsire Orion.  It makes a light brown tweed!  We have another blend from our beige girls Apricot and Valeri, mixed with the light fawn fiber from Dreamboat Annie.  This made a uniform tan colored yarn that is very soft.

All of the above come in two ounce skeins or pull balls - whichever you prefer.  They are priced at $7.00 each.

Dyed Alpaca Yarn

Here at Foss Mountain Farm, we love our white and beige animals and have quite a few of them.  I dye some of the yarn, especially the white, using Classic Country dyes.  I have some wonderful colors, some of which are shown here.  The yarn shown is from our two white herdsires, Orion and Phoenix.  The yarn comes in a variety of sized pull balls, some 2 oz, some 3 and even some 4 oz.  The yardages vary, but are about 45 yds per ounce on the present ones.

I have yarn made from Phoenix's fiber that is died a lovely Apricot color and some that is dyed a dusty pink, called Desert Rose.  I also have yarn from Orion that is an aqua/green color called China Jade.  There is also some of his fiber dyed a beautiful blue, called Cornflower.  Check our AlpacaNation site for the specific colors available now.  But I will soon be dying more of the light colored yarns, including the blended whites listed below.

Hand-dyed yarn is priced at $4.00 per ounce.

Alpaca and Merino Blend Yarns

We have some yarn from our alpacas that are blended with soft white Merino wool.  This is usually done for the younger alpacas, who don't have as much fleece as they will at maturity.  The Merino blends well and gives a bigger run for the processor.  We have both 2 oz regular skeins or pull balls.  Some blends we currently have are the following:

All are 50% Alpaca and 50% Merino
Our dark silver gray boy Santana, both blanket and secondary fiber, had it blended with white Merino to produce a gorgeous medium gray yarn.  It is soft and tweedy, with each two ounce skein having 195 yards.

Our beige girl MoonDance had very soft and beautiful secondary fiber, so we processed into yarn, blending it with white Merino to produce a creamy-colored yarn.  Each two ounce skein has 155 yards.

Our three white young males, The Boss, Stagger Lee and The Gambler, also had very soft and beautiful secondary fiber, so that too, was mixed with white Merino to produce a lot of white yarn!  Some of that will definitely be dyed!  Each two ounce skein is 160 yards.

Alpaca Roving

We sometimes have fiber made into roving for handspinners.  Presently what I have the most of is roving from our beige female Caraz.  Her fleece is beige and in some areas light fawn, so her roving comes out a nice shade of Ecru.

The roving is in one ounce balls and sells for $2.50 per ball.
